The late filter design doesn’t trap particles quite as small as the inline design did. The later-design filter incorporates the same features as the early sump filter and inline filter, in that it passes a percentage of fluid through the finer-micron filter, but is all packed into one filter in the transmission pan. Poor performance with DTCs P0715, P0716 & P0717 4R100 Transmission.
2006 FORD 5R110W TRANSMISSION FLUID TYPE UPDATE
Solution Replace forward clutch drum and update ECU with program 06B06. Metal shavings may also be present in the transmission fluid. The new-design sump filter eliminated the need for the inline filter in the later vehicles. Problem Many 2005 2006 Ford vehicles equipped with the 4R75E transmission, may experience excessive slipping in all forward gears. This change also required a change to the transmission-fluid pan ( Figure 5). In these applications there is no way to adequately flush the filter, as you can see in Figure 3, and the whole canister will have to be replaced.īeginning in the middle of the 2008 model year, Ford changed the sump-filter design in the 5R110W ( Figure 4). In some 20 vehicles this inline filter element cannot be removed separately from the canister, in which case the whole canister needs to be replaced at a cost of about $80 ( Figure 2).
2006 FORD 5R110W TRANSMISSION FLUID TYPE INSTALL
What we recommend is to bypass the inline filter element and canister to flush the cooler, or use a spare clean filter element during the flush and install a new filter element after the flush. It is important to understand that you cannot flush the cooler and cooler lines with the filter element removed the fluid would just bypass the cooler altogether. The transmission, of course, also has the 60-micron filter in the sump. Every transmission is cold and hot tested before shipment.About 10% of the fluid flowing to the transmission cooler passes through the inline filter element, which is a much-finer 5-micron element for better filtering over time. ► Complete road simulation using a dynamometer testing program called C.A.R.S. ► All-new custom-spec bushings to improve internal fluid flow control and pressures. A different shift sequence is engaged when outside temperatures drop below 5° F, in which case the sequence becomes 1st-2nd-3rd-4th-6th. In typical operations, it shifts 1st-2nd-3rd-5th-6th. ► Tru-Flat qualification process applied to transmission case, valve body, pump, and channel plate prevent cross leaks and pressure losses The 5R110W transmission is billed as a 5-speed, although it really has 6 forward speeds. ► Bushings and machined surfaces polished to a mirror-like OE finish of 15 RA or less. Upgrades exceed OE requirements and eliminate the possibilities of front seal leaks, If your Ford F-Series is equipped with an automatic transmission, the transmission fluid acts as a lubricant and hydraulic fluid for all the moving parts inside the transmission. ► Fully remanufactured torque converter is tested for leaks, lock-up, concentricity, and balance. Automatic Transmission Fluid Mercon LV Transmission Code: 5R110W 5 Quarts. ► Completely remanufactured pumps with new line bore bushings eliminate leaks and provide superior flow and durability. ► Upgraded pressure solenoids improve consistent line pressures.

► Low-Reverse clutch Tough spring retainer updated to prevent clutch failure. ► Upgraded low diode increases durability. ► Reverse planetary pinion pins are TIG-welded to eliminate OE design flaw. The Tow/Haul light will flash when TFT reaches 275'. Temps tend to stay around 150-160 unloaded and normally when towing 160-190F. 'Transmission Fluid Temp (TFT), the 5R110 (Torqshift) trans is very strong in stock form, and has a great trans cooler. ► Heavy-Duty pump recalibration and shift kit reduces slippage and increases durability. Anyway, thanks again for everybodys input.
